Sault Ste. Marie’s police services budget is designed to correct deficiencies and underfunding of previous years and prevent the same mistakes from occurring in the future, city council heard.
Newly minted police services board Chair Nuala Kenny said a new era has dawned after an “incredible upheaval” of police services over the past year.

This year saw the crowing of a new police chief, a soon-to-be new deputy chief and several new police service board members, including herself.
The year also marked a police force gripped with significant budget shortages and challenges to correct the errors of the past and move forward in a new way, Kenny told city council.
