The teenage girl killed in a late-night alleged hit-and-run north of Brisbane has been remembered by her family as a gentle soul who cared deeply about those around her.

The 17-year-old was struck by a white ute about 11.27pm on Monday on Margate Parade in Margate, a suburb of Redcliffe.

Officers performed CPR, but the girl died at the scene. Her family have asked for privacy, with police identifying her simply as “Olivia”.

A 58-year-old man was arrested this afternoon, after police found the white Nissan ute allegedly involved in the incident outside a Scarborough home at around 10.30am on Tuesday.
