A 32-year-old inmate at the Hudson County jail died less than an hour after being found unresponsive in his cell on Saturday morning, authorities said.

Guards found John Finucane at 7:40 a.m. at the jail in Jersey City. Emergency workers brought Finucane to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:30 a.m.

The death of Finucane, of Jersey City, remains under investigation.

He had been jailed on charges of stalking and violating a domestic restraining order, according to court records.
