A 29-year-old registered sex offender who sexually exploited more than a dozen children, including at least one from Clark County, was sentenced to 17 years in federal prison in Seattle, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
James “Jake” Harrison Newcomer was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court by Judge John H. Chun, who called the crimes “heartbreaking” and noted that the youngest victim was 12 years old.
According to prosecutors, between February and April 2024, Newcomer posed as a teenage boy on social media platforms such as Discord, Snapchat and BeFriend to lure girls between the ages of 12 and 16. He gave some victims drugs, such as methamphetamine and alcohol, before sexually assaulting them.
