SEATTLE — A registered sex offender who cut off his ankle monitor and sexually abused more than a dozen children across Washington and Oregon was sentenced to 17 years in federal prison Monday.
James “Jake” Harrison Newcomer, 29, of the Seattle area, pleaded guilty in August to travel with intent to engage in sexual acts with a minor and two counts of attempted enticement of a minor, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Washington. He was also ordered to serve a lifetime of supervised release after his prison term.
“These are heartbreaking crimes. The youngest victim was just 12 years old,” U.S. District Judge John H. Chun said at the sentencing hearing in Seattle.
