LOUISVILLE, Ky. — On Saturday, Nov. 15, passengers on a United Airlines flight bound for Dallas witnessed an unexpected and emotional ceremony.
It was a scene Indiana resident Cynthia Jones never expected to witness, as airport personnel at Muhammad Ali International Airport honored First Officer Lee Truitt. Truitt was one of the three pilots who died when UPS Flight 2976 crashed shortly after takeoff on Nov. 4th. Fourteen people died because of the crash.
Jones was preparing to board a flight to Dallas when a voice over the intercom alerted the airport a ceremony was about to occur. Through the terminal window, Jones could see several dozen airport staff, pilots and others walk onto the tarmac.
