The lawyer for a Calgary youth convicted of manslaughter in the killing of a homeless man wants his client tested for qualification of a therapeutic sentence.
Defence counsel Adriano Iovinelli on Monday asked Justice Gary Cornfield to order a report into whether an Intensive Rehabilitative Custody and Supervision sentence is appropriate for his client.

“The report will be ordered today and that will be an IRCS assessment,” Cornfield said.
The youth court judge agreed with Iovinelli to have his client’s case return to court Jan. 9, and ordered that the authors of the IRCS assessment complete their report by Jan. 6.
