SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Notre Dame defeated No. 22 Pittsburgh 37-15 on the road Saturday in a game the Irish dominated and needed to win to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive.

The Irish defense held the Panthers to just 219 total yards and picked off freshman quarterback Mason Heintschel. While the Irish did give up 15 points, that number is a little misleading because Pittsburgh scored a touchdown with no time remaining to reach double digits.

“I thought they played lights out.
