The NSW Nationals have appointed a former blueberry and macadamia farmer to lead the party to the next state election, following the shock resignation of Dubbo MP Dugald Saunders on Monday .
Coffs Harbour MP Gurmesh Singh made history as the party's first Sikh leader after he was elected unopposed in the party room vote held at NSW Parliament on November 18.
The former Deputy Leader of the Nationals will take the reins ahead of the 2027 state election, with Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson announced as the new Deputy Leader.
Mr Singh has served as the Member for Coffs Harbour since the 2019 state election.
