AUSTIN, Texas — A ground delay that was issued at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) on Monday afternoon due to staffing issues has now been lifted.
The FAA issued the ground delay, which affected most arriving flights at the airport, at 4:30 p.m. Flights into AUS were delayed an average of 54 minutes.
It follows several ground delays over the past two months as the government shutdown impacted travel across the country. The 43-day shutdown ended on Wednesday after President Donald Trump signed a new funding bill into law.
On Monday morning, the FAA lifted emergency flight reductions that had been issued to ease staffing pressure during the shutdown. The cuts, which began on Nov. 7, started with a 4% reduction in flights at 40 major airports and ramped up to 6% on Wedne
