Gov. Josh Green has ordered the state and U.S. flags be flown at half-staff at all state offices in honor of the late Maui County Council member Tasha Kama and former Vice President Dick Cheney.
The flags are to be flown at half-staff at all state offices, as well as at all state agencies and Hawaii National Guard facilities until sunset on Thursday.
Kama, a Maui County Council member and retired church pastor who advocated for Hawaiian homestead beneficiaries and social justice issues, died on Sunday , Oct. 26, surrounded by loved ones. She was 73.
Cheney, who was widely regarded as the most powerful vice president in U.S. history, died on Nov. 3 , according to Reuters, due to complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease. He was 84.
