A New Hampshire man has been charged 34 years after what prosecutors described as a brutal rape in Peabody, Massachusetts.
Darrell Lavoie, of Nashua, was ordered held on $100,000 bail over the Nov. 12, 1991, sexual assault, the Essex County District Attorney's Office said Monday, after he faced charges including aggravated rape, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and breaking and entering in Essex Superior Court.

The woman was returning to her house from her job when she was blindfolded and raped by a person holding a knife, prosecutors said.
"The victim has been looking over her shoulder for 34 years, unable to put a face to the person who brutally raped her in her own home," Assistant District Attorney
