A federal immigration official has revealed that government agents made over 560 immigration-related arrests last month in the Portland area – far more than the previously reported estimate from a local coalition that relies on volunteer-confirmed numbers.
U.S. Border Patrol chief Michael W. Banks disclosed the number under the heading “Operation Oregon Support: PORTLAND SWEEP” last Friday on X and a U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesperson said Monday that the arrests were made in Portland and surrounding cities.
“We’re not done yet!” Banks said in the post.
The 560 figure includes arrests by both Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations, the unnamed spokesperson said.
