While Reno doctor Samuel Chacon's trial on health care fraud charges has been pushed out nearly a year, attorneys representing the embattled gynecologist and obstetrician are arguing for a change in venue.

They want the case against Chacon involving insurance fraud moved out of Reno and to Las Vegas, citing 16 news articles about his legal troubles since 2022.

The articles include details of Chacon’s arrest and prosecution for soliciting prostitution and coverage of when the doctor had his medical license suspended for five years following multiple medical malpractice investigations.

But Chacon faces his biggest legal battle on the latest federal charges.
