Jesuit and Mount Carmel won team championships as Jesuit senior Brady Monahan claimed his first individual title and helped the Blue Jays return home with a gold trophy for the fifth year in a row at the LHSAA state cross country championships Monday in Natchitoches.

Jesuit had five finishers among the top 10 and scored 29 points to place ahead of Brother Martin, a Division I runner-up for the fourth year in a row with 93 points.

Monahan overtook Parkway junior Brennan Robin at the two-mile mark and ran the sixth-fastest time in LHSAA championship history at 14 minutes, 59.7 seconds.

“All of us were pretty far back the first little bit,” Jesuit coach Nick Accardo said as he noted that junior Nicholas Braud had the best start among his teammates.
