WESTMINSTER, Calif. (KABC) -- The city of Westminster is planning to honor slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk .
Last week, the Westminster City Council decided to partially rename a street after Kirk, and they're also designating Oct. 14, Kirk's birthday, as "Charlie Kirk Day."
They voted 4-1 to edit All American Way street signs between Westminster Boulevard and 13th Street with Charlie Kirk Way. Photos show some of the proposed signage.
The city council noted that the redesignation won't officially change the street name, but will instead add Kirk's name in addition to All American Way. This means the change in signage won't be reflected on addresses on the street.
The decision to designate Oct. 14 as "Charlie Kirk Day" passed with a 3-2 vote.
