LARAMIE — Kansas City was on the verge of taking a four-point lead over the Broncos during Sunday’s critical AFC West matchup in Denver.

Harrison Butker lined up for an extra-point attempt to put the Chiefs up 20-16 with just under 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Frank Crum had other ideas.

The former University of Wyoming offensive tackle broke through Kansas City’s protection, blocking the kick to keep it at a three-point game. The play ended up paying dividends for the Broncos, who tied the game six minutes later with a 54-yard field goal by Will Lutz.

Lutz later clinched the win with a game-winning 35-yard kick as time expired to push the AFC West first-place Broncos to 9-2 overall, 6-2 in the conference and 2-1 in the division.
