Planning is now underway for what might have once seemed like an unlikely political sit-down.

Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani revealed Monday he wants to meet with the president, saying, “My team reached out to the White House to fulfill a commitment during the campaign that showed willingness to meet with anyone and everyone.”

President Donald Trump spoke of Mamdani’s request Sunday, saying, “We’ll work something out.”

During a visit to a food pantry on Webster Avenue in the Bronx, Mamdani said he hopes to speak with Trump about SNAP benefits, grocery prices and the cost of living.
