KALAMAZOO, MI — A driver who crashed a GMC Terrain SUV into a Kalamazoo gas station in March, injuring seven, was sentenced Monday.

After entering a no contest plea on two charges, Eric David Johnson was sentenced to two years of probation by Kalamazoo County Circuit Judge Christine Morse.

As part of his sentence, if Johnson violates his probation, he will be ordered to spend six months in jail, Kalamazoo County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Jeff Williams confirmed with the Kalamazoo Gazette / MLive.

Johnson was initially charged with two counts of reckless driving causing serious impairment of a body function and two counts of operating while intoxicated causing serious injury. He was arraigned on those charges on Wednesday, July 2.
