CLACKAMAS COUNTY, Ore. — Relatives of a man who was murdered outside his apartment in Clackamas last year were blindsided in court on Monday morning by a last-minute delay at a planned sentencing hearing. The family of Tristan Thomas filled the courtroom for the hearing, prepared to give impact statements before the sentencing.
"My brother was taken from us, the brutality and the trauma of his death has impacted every part of our lives. My brother was a father, son and sibling, a future he never got to live," said Thomas's brother Phillip, who added that the past year has felt empty without Thomas.
Thomas was killed in a fight with Westover outside Thomas's Clackamas apartment in the summer of 2024, according to the district attorney’s office.
