It may not look like much right now, but pretty soon it’ll take shape as the Arch. The project has been in the works for about 12 years. Jim Huettl with the Anchorage Mushing District has been part of it from the beginning and was there to see the first stages of installation. He says, “It seemed like there were so many roadblocks in the way. But, you know, I’ve got a really strong board of directors, and everybody pretty much stayed with it through the whole project.” Huettl says the arch is a major piece of the Mushing District, but there’s more still planned. He explains, “We’re putting concrete precast panels around the base, and then we’ll have plaques for all of our major donors.
