An audit has been undertaken of all government schools in the state following the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission's recall of several coloured sand products that have been found to contain naturally occurring asbestos, Education Minister Jo Palmer has confirmed.
The audit includes all government schools, libraries and Child and Family Learning Centre sites to determine the use of the sand throughout these sites.
It comes after some Tasmanian Catholic schools , including St Brigid's Catholic School at Wynyard and St Peter Chanel Catholic School at Smithton were closed on November 18 until further notice due to the nationwide recall.
