Exiled Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen has sharply criticised the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)’s verdict against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, questioning why she is being branded a criminal, while chief adviser Muhammad Yunus and his “jihadist forces" face no scrutiny.

In a historic judgment delivered on Monday, the ICT handed Hasina a death sentence for “crimes against humanity", including responsibility for several deaths during last year’s student-led uprising that eventually brought down her administration and forced her to flee to India.

Nasreen, who has lived in exile in India since 1994, took to X to criticise the current regime, asking why the “terrorists" who ordered firing on demonstrators were not being held accountable.
