On Nov. 15, the Department of Homeland Security issued an official statement on " Operation Charlotte's Web ," which is behind U.S. Customs and Border Patrol and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement deployments in North Carolina.

The operation is intended to target "criminal illegal aliens" in NC, according to the DHS statement. Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin added that ICE and Border Patrol will focus on Charlotte, North Carolina, to "ensure Americans are safe and public safety threats are removed."
