There is a parallel universe in Victoria where Liberal MPs didn't white-ant Premier Ted Baillieu and give Daniel Andrews a rails run to the 2014 state election.

But it doesn't exist.

Instead, for more than a decade, Victorian Liberal MPs have been riven by infighting and putting personal ambitions — and egos — ahead of unity.

This phenomenon has helped Jess Wilson become the third opposition leader in 11 months, the seventh change of leader since 2012.

In the same period, Labor has changed leaders just once, when Andrews voluntarily called time on his political career.
