Liverpool are poised to receive a major injury boost ahead of their return to Premier League action.
The Reds went into the final international break of the year on the back of a humbling 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City , falling eight points behind leaders Arsenal in the process.
On an afternoon where very little went right for the reigning Premier League champions - including Virgil van Dijk’s disallowed goal - they were, at least, able to welcome back Alexander Isak from injury.
Isak had sat out the previous four games in a row with a groin problem. While he did not get on at the Etihad Stadium, he has since returned to action for Sweden, playing the final half hour of their 4-1 loss to Switzerland on Saturday.
