MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Officers responded to the Gates Mills Place apartments at 12:17 a.m. Nov. 9 on a report of smoke coming from an apartment.
Initially, nobody came to the door. Officers tried to call a key holder, but got no answer.
A man eventually let officers and fire personnel into the apartment, where they found food actively burning on the stove.
The man, who appeared to be drunk, said he worked for the apartments in the maintenance department.
He laughed when they asked if it was him that they were trying to call.
Before the apartment aired out, officers noticed a loaded gun on the floor.
They deployed a Taser on the man when he began acting disorderly within close proximity to the gun.
