Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has visited the future West Australian gallium processing plant site, central to the United States critical minerals deal, heralding it as a "game changing" project.
Alcoa's Wagerup Alumina Refinery south of Perth was among several stops Mr Albanese made during his 38th visit to the state since becoming Prime Minister.
Alcoa will be among the first to benefit from a $13 billion US critical minerals deal, inked during Mr Albanese's meeting with President Donald Trump last month.
Mr Albanese said the gallium project will get underway next year and produce 10 per cent of global supply of the critical metal, used in high-tech devices such as radar, lasers, and 5G chips.
