A family narrowly 'escaped death' on their way home from KFC following a horrific crash.

Rachel Swift says a journey she and her family had made "hundreds of times" nearly ended in tragedy after another vehicle smashed into them, flipped onto its roof and crashed down onto their car.

Mum-of-two Rachel, 33, recalled the horrifying moment she believed she and her partner, along with her youngest daughter Dottie, six, were going to die. She remembered frantically pulling her daughter from the car seat inside their wrecked vehicle before fleeing the scene as quickly as possible.

The family had dropped Rachel's eldest daughter Ellie in Liverpool city centre before "grabbing a KFC" and making their way back to Widnes with Dottie.
