An Ivins woman was sentenced in federal court on Monday for vandalizing a petroglyph panel in Kane County last year.
Daniela Ganassim Ericksen, 47, was sentenced to 12 months' probation and ordered to pay nearly $15,000 in restitution and fines, according to a news release sent out Monday from the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Utah.
As previously reported , Ericksen was arrested by U.S. Bureau of Land Management officers in St. George on Nov. 30, 2024, one week after the vandalism reportedly occurred near the confluence of Wire Pass and Buckskin Gulch.
Seven months later, on June 30, Ericksen pleaded guilty to a single federal count of unauthorized damage, alteration or defacement of an archaeological resource.
