JAMMU, Nov 18: A local court in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district has convicted three men in the 2016 murder of a woman stemming from a long-standing land dispute in Bhaderwah.

Shakuntala Devi was killed, while her husband Nehal Chand and son Chain Singh were injured in an attack carried out by a rival group more than a decade ago. Police said the conviction marks the culmination of a prolonged legal battle in the case registered at Police Station Bhaderwah.

According to a police spokesperson, three accused — Sanjay Kumar, Ram Kumar and Mukesh Kumar — have been found guilty in connection with the crime. The chargesheet had been submitted before the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Bhaderwah.
