LOS LUNAS, N.M. —
The village of Los Lunas is addressing a growing need for affordable housing as interest from people priced out of Albuquerque and commercial projects increases.
Alex Ochoa, the community development director, said they are currently developing three to four major subdivisions, each broken into smaller subdivisions with housing units ranging from 40 to 150 units. Some of these units could be ready within the next year.
Additionally, about 200 homes are being built annually, each priced at approximately $350,000. Ochoa said developers benefit from lower land costs and utility fees, and the village has updated its zoning code to allow more housing types.
