GENESEO, Ill. (KWQC) - Holiday decorations surround the “chimney escape” display in the wall, complete with a pair of Santa’s boots and a fireplace mantel right where firefighters busted a hole to free a trapped intruder .
“She actually made a little display in her store and people have been streaming in,” said Katie Kutsunis who owns the Four Seasons next door. “As a small-business owner, I’m weirdly happy for Pat that people are supporting her by visiting her store.”
Downtown Geneseo businesses say the decorated “chimney escape display” will stay up through Christmas, and they’re encouraging holiday shoppers to stop by.
Kutsunis said no one was hurt in the incident, and the bizarre break-in attempt has brought unexpected holiday cheer to downtown Geneseo.
