Winter weather has well and truly arrived in Scotland, with a number of Met Office weather warnings in place this week predicting snow and ice to blanket much of the country.

While previous warnings covered some areas of Lanarkshire, the latest update shows almost all of Greater Glasgow under a yellow alert for ice and 'hill snow' from 4pm today (November 18) to 11am tomorrow (November 19).

Strathclyde areas affected by the latest warning include Glasgow, East Renfrewshire, Renfrewshire, North Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire .

The most significant warning is a substantial snow and ice alert that lasts over 50 hours and covers more than half of the country. This Met Office alert, which predicts up to 20cm of snowfall, began at 6pm today and runs until 9pm on Thursday, Novembe
