HINTON, Iowa —

Three members of a western Iowa high school girls basketball team sustained major injuries when the school bus they were riding in was involved in a crash on Saturday afternoon.

Remsen St. Mary's Catholic School previously confirmed its girls basketball team was involved in a crash while on the way back from a scrimmage in South Dakota and that some students were injured and taken to several hospitals.

On Monday, the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office issued an update on the crash, identifying some of the individuals involved.

According to the update, three teen girls sustained major injuries in the crash. A 16-year-old was transported by medical helicopter from the scene, while a 15-year-old and an 18-year-old were taken to a Sioux City hospital by ambulance before bein
