SPOKANE, Wash. – Ten Spokane homes and Raising Canes Chicken Finger’s lost power overnight after a driver crashed into a power pole near 9200 North Newport Highway.

The crash also created closures on Northeast Newport Highway, leaving only one northbound lane open.

The crash was reported around 1 a.m., according to the Spokane Police Department, and left the power lane broken in two places.

The Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers nearby the crash lost power due to the crash, according to Cane’s staff at the scene. Ten homes also lost power after the crash according to Avista.

Spokane Police said speed and alcohol were factors in the crash and the driver is now in custody.

Investigation is still underway.
