BILLINGS, Mont. – As the holiday season approaches, nonprofits across the state are gearing up for various events. In Billings, the Kiwanis Club is seeking donations of children's books for their annual 'Book Tree' at the Festival of Trees.
The Festival of Trees kicks off on December 4, showcasing over 30 trees, including the popular Book Tree. This unique tree is constructed entirely from children's books, and organizers are calling for community help to gather the necessary materials.
Hans Abbey, president of Billings Kiwanis, shared the origin of the Book Tree idea.
"We decided we'd just build the Christmas tree out of the books. And so we started stacking them up and pretty soon we were at 18 stories, 18 stories," Abbey said.
The Book Tree has become a highly sought-after item at
