Drivers may encounter brief rolling stops on Interstate 81 near Chambersburg in Franklin County today.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said the stops of up to 15 minutes are expected between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, from Exit 17 (Walker Road) to Exit 20 (Route 997/Scotland).

The rolling stops are a safety precaution for blasting activities associated with a residential development, PennDOT said.

Drivers should be alert for stopped or slow-moving traffic.

A rolling stop is a traffic control technique to temporarily slow and control traffic and create a gap in traffic.
