Prepared foods company Pilgrim's broke ground on a new facility last week in Lafayette, Georgia.

The groundbreaking took place Thursday, November 13 at the site in the Walker County Business Park off Highway 27.

Pilgrim's will bring up to 630 new jobs to the area.

Walker County officials say it is set to open in early 2027.

The company will produce Just Bare and Pilgrim's fully cooked chicken products to be sold at grocery stores and wholesale clubs.

The Walker County Chamber of Commerce says Pilgrim's will also extend its Hometown Strong and Better Futures programs to the county. Pilgrim's also plans to donate more than 700 pounds of chicken wings, tenders and breasts to Pie Slingers Pizzeria in Rock Spring, GA. The donation will serve local residents in need.
