"You just make a choice to do it," he said, between reps from his home gym in rural Montgomery County.
He's grateful for the ability to make the choice at all. At 67, Mannion has struggled with COPD for years . Staying active, he says, helps.

The disease is actually is a group of lung diseases that get worse over time. It prevents airflow to the lungs, causing breathing problems and is a leading cause of death in the United States. Smoking is the main cause of the disease, but nonsmokers can get it, too.
