LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Laredo Police officers arrested five people on drug and weapon charges following a traffic stop early on U.S. Hwy 83.

At 2:38 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18, officers conducted a traffic stop on a gray Ford Fusion in the 4700 block of U.S. Hwy 83.

Officers identified the people in the car as driver Daniel Zambrano, 37, and passengers Victor Schunior, 38; Deyanira Farias, 33; and Jessica Hernandez, 27.

During the investigation, a police K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics. Officers located controlled substances believed to be heroin, cocaine, crystal meth, fentanyl pills and marijuana. A stolen handgun and U.S. currency were also recovered.
