Ten Michigan state representatives have signed a letter asking the Michigan High School Athletic Association to provide proof of a transgender athlete’s eligiblity to compete.

The letter addressed to MHSAA leadership states concern from the representatives “regarding the eligibility of a transgender athlete currently competing for Ann Arbor Skyline in the 2025 MHSAA Girls’ Volleyball State Championship.”

Skyline is set to play in the state quarterfinals on Tuesday night against Byron Center at Gull Lake High School.

The MHSAA would not share any information with MLive on the topic, citing student privacy laws.
