JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — A chemical spill in southern Indiana prompted a brief shelter-in-place order with authorities asking the public to avoid the area.
The Clark County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) said the chemical spill happened near POSCO in the 5100 block of Loop Road on Tuesday.
Officials said the chemical spilled from a leaking semi trailer.
While it's unclear what specific chemical spilled at this time, Jeffersonville Police said it has since been "contained."
According to Clark County EMA, the leak is isolated to the property and there are "favorable readings near the containment pool."
Officials originally issued a shelter-in-place order for resident within a half-mile radius of the location for precautionary measures, but that was lifted just aft 10 a.m.
