Richard Fletcher, a lifelong educator, coach, and devoted family man, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, at the age of 83. Born in Everett, Massachusetts, on November 21, 1941, to Lilian (née Blake) and John C. Fletcher, Richard embodied the values of hard work, community, and kindness that defined his life.

A graduate of Melrose High School (Class of 1959), Richard went on to earn his degree from Northeastern University in 1964. That same year, he began a distinguished 39-year career with the Newton Public Schools, leaving an indelible mark on generations of students. He started at Pierce Elementary School, later taught at Bigelow Junior High, and spent a quarter century as a beloved physical education teacher at Newton Nort
