A well timed snow storm and cooler temperatures in the forecast have Powderhorn Mountain Resort optimistic that it will hit its target of opening for the season this Friday.
Powderhorn Assistant General Manager Ryan Robinson said the mountain saw between two and four inches of snow from the storm that hit Sunday evening, which came down as rain in the Grand Valley. While the natural snow was helpful, Robinson said the predicted cooler weather is what the mountain really needs to open in just a few days.
“What we’re really looking for this time of year is good temperatures to make snow,” Robinson said. “We’ve had warmer temperatures the last two to three weeks that have just lingered in the valley. The natural snow is wonderful to see and certainly helpful, but what we’re very excited abo
