SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - After Massachusetts residents voted in favor of Question 2 in the 2024 election, which eliminated MCAS from the list of high school graduation requirements, Springfield Public Schools have announced their new guidelines on how students will now fulfill their graduation conditions.

Under new regulations, each district must develop their own policy outlining the standards students need to meet before they can take their next steps.

For Springfield Public Schools, the Class of 2026 will need two years of English, two years of math, and one year of science.

Then starting with the Class of 2027, students will also need one year of U.S. history.
