LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Nebraska defensive coordinator John Butler spent two years as an assistant coach at Penn State. He’s also from the east coast as a native of Pennsylvania.
“I grew up in a region where Penn State was ‘it,’” Butler said. “Much like Nebraska (where) Nebraska is ‘it.’”
Butler is in his second season on the Huskers’ coaching staff. He currently serves as the defensive playcaller after focusing on the secondary last season. Butler’s defense currently ranks third nationally against the pass, allowing just 135 yards per game.
“The experience to go back there (to Penn State) is awesome,” Butler said.
Nebraska visits the Nittany Lions on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. The game will be televised on NBC.
