DES MOINES, Iowa — Attorney General Brenna Bird is announcing enhancements to Iowa's Victim Assistance Section, introducing a Sexual Assault Forensic Response Coordinator and a new prosecutor portal for victim restitution.

The Sexual Assault Forensic Response Coordinator will provide essential training and technical assistance to Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners statewide. Bird says this initiative aims to increase the number of trained nurses, ensuring sexual assault victims receive critical care.

Additionally, the updated prosecutor portal offers county attorneys real-time access to restitution information, facilitating immediate sentencing and helping collect restitution for more defendants. Bird says this new interface addresses previous delays by providing up-to-date information.
