DES MOINES, Iowa ( KCCI ) - Des Moines police investigators say they have solved a missing person case from more than a decade ago.
The Police Department says a 54-year-old woman was reported missing in 2011 while visiting southern Iowa from South Carolina.
Leads dried up in the case after no criminal evidence was found.
The case remained open for nearly 15 years.
Detective Cheryl Nablo and Investigative Assistant Belen Ceballos investigated and found leads in Iowa, South Carolina, and Texas, before finding the woman alive and well in Nebraska.
The investigators say the woman, who has chosen to stay anonymous, left by choice due to past struggles with her family.
