More than a decade after a woman disappeared on a trip to southern Iowa, an internal audit at the Des Moines Police Communications Center led investigators to track her down alive and well.

The case resurfaced when the audit brought the file to Detective Cheryl Nablo's attention, a Facebook post by the Des Moines Police Department explained.
